Bring your own key: how we built Basik AI
Why Basik AI runs on your company's own provider key, and what that means for cost and control.
When we designed Basik AI, we had a choice: resell AI usage with a markup and our own terms, or let each company use its own provider account. We chose the second.
What "bring your own key" means
An admin connects your company's OpenAI API key in Settings and accepts the provider's data terms. From then on, AI requests go to OpenAI through your account. OpenAI bills you directly; Basik doesn't add a fee.
Why we think it's better
- Transparent cost. You see exactly what AI costs in your provider dashboard.
- Your terms. Your data is processed under the agreement you have with your provider.
- Off by default. Nothing is sent to an AI provider until an admin turns it on.
What it does
Summaries of channels and threads, answers about your work, proposed tasks you confirm, call notes and proofreading. Read how to connect Basik AI.
